The ‘A’ Company, 5th Ranger Battalion Living History Association is a research and authenticity based historical interpretation group founded in 2003. At its humble roots, Able, originally Charlie, was a small group of friends researching and portraying a squad of United States Army Rangers during their time in Western Europe in 1944 and 1945.
Today, Able has become a Platoon-sized unit with members based in Central New York, Western New York and Ontario. Able is a hallmark of northeastern United States historical groups and has been honored by being an invited participant in several programs at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia and most importantly, we are an educational partner with the WWII Rangers & Descendants Association and are annually involved in programs that directly support them.
It is important to note that we are not a tactical simulation group but are rather a “model company”, in that our mission is living history interpretation, in period uniform. Our goal, as a unit, is to portray a vignette or period of time to the public, and to share the stories passed down to us.
